In 2003, we have successfully implemented a powerful ERP that helped Hydro Mobile control all the operations in our production facility. However, being transactional in nature, as all ERP systems are, it does not provide us with adequate financial and operational planning capabilities nor is it easy for us to access key information to improve our decision making process and properly manage our Company. In order to solve these issues; we developed very complex Excel models for planning and forecasting. We very quickly discovered that with all the effort that we put into building theses models in Excel, the final solutions were not able to provide us with the timely management information that we required in order to excel in this fast and competitive world. We wasted countless hours and days debating the accuracy of the data instead of addressing the key business issues. We consequently replaced the excel models with an enterprise planning solution from COGNOS. We have been using this solution for more than 2-years and we find that it has dramatically improved our ability to plan, budget and forecast. We are now able to provide our shareholders with very timely information that is considerably more accurate than before. This solution enables us to clearly and effectively define the financial and operational goals we are trying to achieve. Both KPI and COGNOS were KEY partners in the success of this implementation. KPI provided us with very qualified consultants that understood our business extremely well and assisted us in implementing a highly customized solution that addressed all of our very specific requirements. Following this initial success, we have recently asked COGNOS and KPI to help us implement a Business Intelligence infrastructure at Hydro Mobile in order to gain improved visibility of our business drivers and help our management team make better business decisions in our quest for global growth. Again KPI was able to provide us with experienced consultants to insure success of this project. We are implementing Cognos 8 on top of a solid set of data marts, with data extracted from our ERP. We expect that this BI infrastructure would soon become our key management solution to monitor our business performance and help us address our business goals.
